Wacky Hair Day!

Today, yet another half-day of school for the boys (can you hear me cringing) and it being Halloween and all, the school sponsored a wacky hair day... presenting Phinneous and Pepe...

*** It's food coloring... I'm promised that it will come out... immediately upon showering!

Tie-DyeFun

To celebrate 'Rainbow' week at school we tackled tie-dying with 5 year olds! I must admit, that I have been humbled. To prepare for this... my anxiety was peeked.... How will I tie-dye with 5 years olds and have it be successful and have them not go home blue?!?!?! Well, my friends... 5 year olds are incredible. Besides the, "Is it my turn yet?" every 5 minutes, they followed directions, had fun and experimented. I was overjoyed when they experienced for themselves EVERYTHING that we had been talking about with colors. Red and Yellow really do make orange, Yellow and Blue really do make green, etc. Exciting stuff in my class.

If YOU are a tie-dyer and happen to see this post... help me... when I rinsed all of the shirts the colors were clear and the whites were white. After drying the shirts, the whites are dingy. How can I improve upon my process? Please share!

Introducing the new baby at the zoo!

I couldn't resist sharing a couple of photos with you...

Really?

You really won't eat chili, but you will eat sushi?

Yes, sad but true. No chili for these kids, but raw tuna gets a YUM!

(Excluding Pepe... not a fan of either. Unless it's Daddy's chili with and entire steak cut-up in his bowl.)

New to me

I am branching out... reading and trying to figure it all out. I have had this book sitting in my reading basket for quite some time. This morning, in the quiet and cold, I snuggled in and began to read. So far, it is enjoyable to me. I'll keep you posted on my thoughts as I make my way through it.

$@*()@*#$&*()@ -- Wow!

Stunned as I was, I pulled it together to take photos of the "creativity" and "imagination" of my daughter and her new friend, Mary. Mary's mom and I could only laugh at the sight. All I can say is that I asked to borrow Mary for the morning so that she and Baby Girl could play while I did homework. I knew that it would be bad when I realized that I had seen them each in at least 10 different outfits and I couldn't remember what Mary had worn to our house... enjoy!

By the way, we love Mary and she and Baby Girl will have many more play dates... off to fold clothes!

Edited: CLEARLY it is time to give our loot.. uh, hem... important treasures to other deserving children!

Time for a Sunday Ride

Baby girl has been wanting to ride for a long time. Seeing that I have such awesome friends, she was able to this afternoon. She rode Sam... Sam is very old, but a great horse. He has taught many kids how to ride.

1 weekend, 3 kids, 5 soccer games

Can you believe this? Such a cool photo... (Pepe is in yellow.) He had a great game... scored 1 goal, had 1 assist and many more attempts.

Granite is in!

Finally... the granite is in! J worked hard all weekend tearing out the tiles, finding the glue-covered-over screws and ripping out the counter. We are so happy with it... can you find the lobster? How fun is that!?!?!??! Next up, PLUMB THE SINK! I am doing dishes in the laundry room... bleck!

FYI... The color in the above picture is more true, below is too yellow.

Get a Grip!

Got one... promise! This fall has been exceptionally busy for our family. I have been so nervous and keyed up about my classes that I've forgotten to stop and enjoy all that I have.

I have
* an incredible family, including a very supportive husband
* I have awesome kids, although they sometimes fight, they know when to smile, crack a joke, give a back-rub and snuggle with mom
* good health
* I have a beautiful home filled with love, kindness and smart people
* I have two great dogs that love me always... I can always bribe them with bones, if needed
* I work with incredible ladies, children and families

I have a wonderful, blessed life!

Sometimes, you need to stop and smell the roses.

To Do????

See that "To Do" list on the right? Guess what? Nothing has been accomplished on it. I was feeling very bad about that until I realized what I have accomplished over the last month:
* begin Master of Education program (2 classes)
* have 4 wisdom teeth pulled
* Coach Phinneous' soccer team
* Get three kids to soccer practice each week
* Get Pepe to swim team 2x a week (also)
* Teach PreK part time
* Remodel the kitchen... Okay so all I've done is write checks for this, but 1/2 of my kitchen is in my living room
I call this managed chaos.

It's Fall

and I love it! Amber, gold, chartreuse ... beautiful colors of fall. The air is crisp, the afternoons are pleasant and we are all happy.

We enjoyed reading this book last night as a family. Have you read it? So much fun... even the boys came over to listen to the story. Enjoy...
