Tie-DyeFun

To celebrate 'Rainbow' week at school we tackled tie-dying with 5 year olds! I must admit, that I have been humbled. To prepare for this... my anxiety was peeked.... How will I tie-dye with 5 years olds and have it be successful and have them not go home blue?!?!?! Well, my friends... 5 year olds are incredible. Besides the, "Is it my turn yet?" every 5 minutes, they followed directions, had fun and experimented. I was overjoyed when they experienced for themselves EVERYTHING that we had been talking about with colors. Red and Yellow really do make orange, Yellow and Blue really do make green, etc. Exciting stuff in my class.

If YOU are a tie-dyer and happen to see this post... help me... when I rinsed all of the shirts the colors were clear and the whites were white. After drying the shirts, the whites are dingy. How can I improve upon my process? Please share!

We did tie dye over the summer and think we should have used vinegar in the wash process...that might help set the colors.

I've heard that before... I'll note it for next time. I have extra die, so the kids are going to die more clothes this weekend.
